The Omnipod
In July 2000 Insulet Corporation brought about the idea of the Omnipod, a more efficient way of treating type 1 diabetes. In 2003 Insulet Corporation got 501k and approval from the FDA to begin working on the project, 2005 was the year that the first Omnipod cleared and ready to be sold.

An Omnipod is a tubeless insulin pump controlled entirely by the PDM (personal diabetes manger) in a way its just like Bluetooth, the PDM sends messages to the pod and the pod does it. the Omnipod does everything that a normal insulin pump does (give insulin, tests blood glucose, pre-programs basal rates).
The pod is stuck to the skin with an adhesive and at the push a button on the PDM a needle shoots into the skin 5 1000ths of a second and comes back out again, but leaves a small piece of tubing in the skin.
